Experience The Nutcracker at Jo Long Theatre

The Nutcracker BIO

The Nutcracker is the world's most performed ballet, a two-act Christmas classic with music composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and choreography originally by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. Premiering in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1892, the story follows young Clara who receives a nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve. This doll comes to life, battles the Mouse King, and takes her on a magical journey to the Kingdom of Sweets. Performed by ballet companies worldwide every holiday season, The Nutcracker accounts for nearly half of many ballet companies' annual revenues and is beloved by audiences of all ages.

This year, Ballet Austin will present The Nutcracker at the Dell Hall at Long Center For The Performing Arts in Austin, Texas, from November 28 to December 23, 2026. The production features local dancers and orchestral accompaniment, making it a cherished annual tradition for families. The performance includes highlights from both acts such as the "March of the Toy Soldiers," "Waltz of the Snowflakes," and "Grand Pas de Deux." The positive live performance vibe from past experiences has made this event a must-see during the holiday season.

Opening acts for this performance will include San Antonio Dance, adding to the festive atmosphere of the event.
